Robots is boring

Kev, Stevie, and I saw "Robots" the other night. Eh! Just as the critics say, the animation is dazzling (but not overly spectacular), the storyline is ludicrously formulaic, and the voices? BLAH. Robin Williams wasn't overly obnoxious, and the gal who did the voice for his kid sister was good, but the rest were pretty lame. Especially Halle Barry--but she's pretty boring, anyway, once she starts talking. Compare her voicing to Ellen Degeneres's masterful and hilarious job of voicing "Dory" in Finding Nemo . . . well, there's no comparison. To be fair, Dory had many more fun lines, and that's all part of the problem with Robots, huh?

The scenes at the "chop shop", where old robots are sent to die, is a little too Holocaust-y to be deemed family fun. Stevie was actually wanting to go home during the dark bits. Still, there were enough cute kid moments to keep him in his seat.

Shrek, Finding Nemo, and The Incredibles have spoiled many a moviegoer. They are truly wonderful movies, full of imagination, humor, and character. Robots had it's cool visual moments, but that's about it.
